Sasa School History
The idea to start Sasa School is the outcome of the progress of Tumaini Home, a centre for handicapped children in Monduli District. Tumaini Home was officially founded in 2010 by a couple of teachers, a Norwegian (Ståle Anda) and a Tanzanian (Gervase Tatah Mlola), who met originally in 1988 while working in a Lutheran school in Monduli District.
Tumaini Home was established with the aim of bringing hope to children living in difficult and vulnerable surroundings. It is mainly concerned with the rehabilitation of physically-disabled children.
In the first four years of dealing with physically-disabled children at Tumaini, the founders noticed that the best way to mould the future of this group of children was to provide them with good education. They also noticed that disabled children needed space to interact with non-handicapped children. Sasa School was therefore established in 2015 to offer that space where both the handicapped and non-handicapped children meet to study and play together.
Sasa is a registered school recognized by the government and the local authority. The registration number of the school obtained from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in 2017 is EM. 17416.
